Did you know your liver have the superpower to regenerate itself after injury?
Exosomes – tiny particles found in liver tissue – are key players in the healing process by boosting metabolism and immune response. But how the liver repairs itself after surgery is still not fully understood.
In this study, it was discovered that exosomes packed with a special ingredient called β-sitosterol activate the Hedgehog pathway. This pathway helps break down fats, generates energy, and acts as a signal booster to prompt the liver to start healing. These findings suggest that β-sitosterol and exosomes could play a crucial role in speeding up liver healing and enhancing energy metabolism.
