Migration and peoples’ movements have crucially shaped human history, is a contemporary source of conflict, and a phenomenon with strong future relevance. But why do people move?

This panel discussion will depart from the notion that we need to understand the past to understand the future and focus on three historical aspects related to migration in Europe: forced migration, colonial migration and the cultural meaning of migration.
