UNFORTUNATELY, THIS LECTURE IS CANCELED FROM THE PROGRAM
This talk will present the emergence of the new critical field of "Blue Humanities" in the field of Nordic literature and art. In order to develop a hybrid approach centered on the North and its singularities, our aim will be to study the fluid environments of the Arctic and Baltic (ice, foam, atmosphere, drift, scum), having regard to the fact that the circumpolar North becomes blue with the melting of the ice pack. This proposal invites Scandinavian literary and cultural studies to reconnect with our contemporary society, contributing to a debate that has traditionally been a specific domain of the natural sciences. Through this study we will contribute to the current discussion on climate change in the Nordic geographical and cultural context of the Arctic and Baltic.
