Due to society's growing concern about the environmental problems caused by plastic waste, plastic recycling is currently promoted in both industry and academia. Plastic waste is collected, sorted, washed, processed, and given new life as new products. In academia, researchers investigate how various process conditions affect the final properties of recycled materials, with a particular focus on the washing and processing steps in recycling. What is the current state of plastic recycling, and what insights have been gained so far?
